Hi everyone! I’m Sara, and I run The Style Blog.
I started making YouTube videos in 2010 because my brother Will (YouTube.com/Will) encouraged me to join him in posting content. His audience kept growing, and his videos got so many views, so I decided to join in the fun! I thought long and hard about what I loved to do, and I decided to start posting videos about beauty and fashion. I worked hard, made 3 videos a week, and thanked every single subscriber individually until I reached 2,000 subscribers. I’m so thankful for those of you who believed in me from the very beginning.
Sadly, in May 2011, my brother and best friend Will tragically passed away in the Joplin tornado on his way home from graduating from Joplin High School. My entire life was rocked, and I was so incredibly devastated that I could not even fathom posting beauty and fashion videos any longer. I tried to come back to making videos in 2012, but after a few videos, I decided that it was still too difficult. I could only see Will in the Youtube community.
In December 2011 I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in financial management/investments and a minor in retail marketing. I then worked for a non-profit. During this time I adopted my cutest little dog best friend Lydia (a “pomshe” pomeranian sheltie mix).
In April 2012, my boyfriend of 4 years proposed to me on Easter. I, of course, said yes and started planning our wedding. We got married in August 2012.
Shortly after getting married, we adopted our big, fluffy bestie dog Reagan (a Newfoundland).
In August 2014, my husband, our 2 dogs, & I moved to Kansas City. While we were there, I decided that I really wanted to be a nurse because I had such incredible memories of the nurses who cared for my father and our family after the tornado. I wanted to be able to give back to people in the same way those nurses took care of us. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University in February 2017. I then worked as an ICU RN at a top-rated Kansas City hospital.
In November 2017, my husband and I decided it was time to expand our family, and we were elated when we found out I was pregnant. I gave birth to our beautiful daughter in July 2018 and have been a full-time mommy ever since.
I missed The Style Blog community tremendously, and I am incredibly excited to connect with you all once again. I would love to hear from each of you- please comment or send messages to me on any of my social media channels.
